Open the window to let sunlight in only to be disappointed by the artificial light that filters through.
One fluid motion to swift the blinds away, one fluid motion until sadness sets in.
Kid its nighttime no sun, just streetlights.
Wake up in the morning and let real light shine through your million dollar window.
Blinded by the lighted bliss of your almost fake life.

  1. My dear kayak partner - This is beautifully written. My favorite lines: "Kid its nighttime no sun, just steetlights. Wake up in the morning and let real light shine through your million dollar window." Alyx, those lines are really good.

  3. It reminds me of a time when I opened a front door expecting nine o'clock in the morning only to find that it was nine o'clock at night. Sad discovery. Unfortunaltey I've been surprised to find the opposite to be true on a different occasion.
